Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Winnipeg, Canada lead control program. Project objectives include the following: determine lead levels; determine conditions affecting lead levels; and,review options for remedial action. Previous city research including pilot water stabilizationprogram is presented, along with recommendations,design and construction of chemical feed facility, implementation of lead control program, andoperator issues. Future plans include the following:based on consultant recommendations, the 2 ppmorthophosphate feed has become the maintenance dose forpermanent control; lead testing at households continues but we hope toeventually replace it with a surrogate system based on thepilot; discussions with the provincial regulators are ongoing; waiting to determine the potential impact of the HealthCanada corrosion control document;the feed system will be integrated with the water treatmentplant when completed; and, communicating with the customer at yearly large customer seminar, and information is offered on the departmental website.
