The following paper describes the initial phase of studies carried out to determine the possibleimpacts of New York City switching disinfectants from free-chlorine to chloramines. Theproject included pipe rig studies and annular reactor studies focusing on the following possibleimpacts: copper and lead leaching; corrosion of iron, brass and bronze; and, microbial regrowthpotential.
