Full Description

This paper reports on the first phase of an investigation conducted by Antwerp WaterWorks (AWW) in Belgium to make a long term (12 months) comparison betweenSBF and high-rate dissolved air flotation (DAF) to determine which process would be optimal. Theinvestigation included construction of a pilot plant consisting of an Actiflo unit (40m3/hr or 50 - 80 m/hr) and Aquadaf unit (20 m3/hr or 25 - 35 m/hr) with downstreamfiltration units. The results of this study show that there are importantdifferences with the units effect on water quality and performance of downstreamprocesses. Furthermore it clearly points to the value of this type of demonstrationtesting can bring to water companies. Includes figures.
