This powerpoint presentation outlines Ontario's approach to source protection planning, the Clean Water Act (CWA) of 2006. The CWA and associated regulations will provide thelegislative framework for the implementation of the source protectionplanning program in Ontario.The regulations will provide detail on size, operations andappointment process for source protection committees, and thedevelopment of the Terms of Reference, Assessment Report and theSource Protection Plan. Funding ($120 M) for technical studies and partnerships will supportthe development of the science and capacity building necessary forsource protection plan development.Work towards the development of the Assessment Report, includingthe watershed characterization reports, water budgets, issuesevaluation and threats inventories, and vulnerability assessments iscurrently being undertaken with this funding.
