This powerpoint presentation begins by providing project drivers for an automated meter reading initiative for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. They include: current handheld system used by meter readers wasfailing;new legislation required individual meters for multi-familydwellings, apartments, trailer parks, etc.;city's meter (water and gas) infrastructure was alreadybeing considered for a significant upgrade due to age;meter estimates were increasing;theft of service issues;budget issues required a significant permanent decreasein cost over the long term; and,safety issues due to dog bites, jumping fences, etc. The goal of the initiative was to find a system that would be cost efficient,more effective and safer than the current manualsystem. The automated solutions that wereevaluated were theMobile Radio Frequency (RF) AMR and the Fixed Network (FN) AMR.
