Full Description

This slide presentation begins by outlining background information on how organic N-chloramines are produced, why they are of concern, andexisting analytical methods. Size Exclusion Chromatography is selected as the method toquantify total organic N-chloramines directly. A summary of conclusions indicates:the developed method allows us to analyze total organic andinorganic chloramines separately;equal signals were achieved for all tested organic chloramines;any of tested peptides or glycine could be used as a standardcompound for the quantification of total organic chloramines;no evidence of decomposition or consumption of OrganicN-chloramines during elution is observed; and,the SEC-ED method fills the analytical gap which existed betweenmeasuring total residual chlorine and individual chloramines byallowing the analysis of total organic and inorganic chloramines. Includes figures.
