Full Description

This slide presentation outlines a study on the characterization of natural organic matter (NOM) on Lake Mead and its effect on water treatment. The presentation begins with an overview of Lake Mead and its historic water levels and total organic carbon levels (TOC) for influent water. The experimental design is outlined in two phases: Phase I involved the differences in NOM coming into Lake Mead from its four sources (the Colorado River, Virgin River, Muddy River, and the Las Vegas Wash); and,Phase II involved the disinfection byproduct FPfor each NOM source and treatment studies.Further topics outlined include: water quality parameters; size characterization Lake Mead (UVADetection); Field Flow Fractionation(UVA Detection); Hydrodynamic Sizes; PRAM Results: Tributaries; Fluorescence Results: Sources; and, DBP (THM) results. Includes figures.
