This slide presentation begins with an overview of the Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA) system. MVWA's objective to its comprehensive approach to it's current water quality issues included: evaluating present and future actionsfor long-term regulatory compliance. The issues concerned simultaneous compliance with DBP2,LT2, Lead and Copper Rule. Its goals included: long-term regulatory compliance; doing more than justmeeting regulatory limits;ability to grow - sell water;be recognized as a leading national water utility;have a fair rate structure [i.e., affordable andcompetitive]; and,provide a differentiating level of service to consumersthat is customer focused. Actions taken included:lay out sequence of activities necessary tomeet MVWA's goals;identify critical time sensitive milestones;reach consensus on preferred actions;agree to execute defined tasks onschedule;validate whether action meets the majorgoals of MVWA; and, carefully evaluate ways to meetthe Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface WaterTreatment Rule, the Stage 2Disinfectant/Disinfection Byproducts Rule andLead and Copper Rule.
