In preparation for the potential regulation of perchlorate, the American Water WorksAssociation (AWWA) has developed an Action Plan to address issues related toperchlorate which may impact the drinking water industry. Part of this Action Plan is toconsolidate and map the national occurrence of perchlorate using information fromexisting occurrence surveys. The existing surveys included results from the UnregulatedContaminants Monitoring Rule (UCMR) and surveys by the states of Arizona, California,Massachusetts and Texas. This paper presents consolidated perchlorate occurrenceinformation from these surveys and maps the known location of perchlorate occurrenceas of the fall of 2004. Includes 7 references, tables.
