Full Description

The objective of this slide presentation was to assess the potential of the recently developed Stir-Bar-Sorptive Extraction method (SBSE or TWISTER) to replace CLSA,LLE and SPME methods to analyze the odors most commonlyreported in raw and treated waters. Topics covered include: SBSE theory; compared theoretical recovery betweenSPME and SBSE; analytical conditions for earthy-musty compounds; optimization of extraction time and volume; method performance; GEOSMIN at sub ppt level (SIM MODE); results ring test Geosmin; analysis of halogenated phenols; calibration over the whole procedure withand without natural organic matter (NOM); stability of response during storage of Stir Bar; analytical conditions for halogenated phenols; LOD observed for other odorous compounds; comparison of CLSA, SPME and SBSE; and, application to real episode in Sisteron raw andtreated water (earthy-musty odor). Includes tables, figures.
