Full Description

This slide presentation outlines a disinfection efficiency evaluation at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities. In 1994, a tracer test wasrun when only 5 of the 8clearwells were constructed. The results were"good" but difficult tounderstand.Three clearwell storage tankswere then added and a secondtracer test is now required. The purpose of the current project was to determine how best to run the next tracertest byreviewing 1994 test results to gain a betterunderstanding of CW 3-4-5 behavior and togain a better understanding of the flow. Key engineering tasks included: create hydraulic model (H20Map), link WTPclearwells and plant piping to distributionsystem model;review existing piping drawings;review 1994 test data: CW 3-4-5;model/simulate 1994 test conditions;estimate CT (disinfection efficiency);using the model, develop operating plan fornext tracer test; and, perform tracer test and review results.
