This slide presentation outlines information on case studies in Kin-Men County, China, of water treatment plants (WTPs) with high dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in the water. Characterization of source water included:three major WTPs;lake water(stored rain water);R.T. 6 months;high DOC;low alkalinity;high Cl - and Br -; and, highly eutrophic. Topics covered include: water quality in study area; treatment processes using conventional treatments with slow sand filtration; haloacetic acids (HAAs) in Water Treatment Processes -Ron Lake WTP (2 samplings), Tai Lake WTP (2 samplings), Hong-Shan WTP (2 samplings); HAA formation in TreatmentTrains - Cases in Kin-Men County; laboratory batch filtration test; and, laboratory filtration testsfor HAA removal.
