This paper reviews the case histories of membrane facilities in differentimplementation stages to identify specific areas where technical advances had asignificant impact. After noting the lessons learned from past experiences, the authors identifystrategies to position membrane projects to benefit from ongoing technical development.These examples show that the rapid technological evolution of membrane systems cansignificantly impact a variety of project stakeholders and can arise during many project phases.
