Full Description

In 1995, the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility of Anchorage, Alaska, commissioned the creation of an Information Technology (IT) Master Plan. Since the adoption of the plan, the Utility has been working aggressively to implement the strategies that it outlined: centralization and integration of data; reduction of paperwork; significant investments in training; and reduction in system complexity and diversity. With a major portion of the plan accomplished, the Utility has realized significant benefits from its investment in IT technologies. This has provided the motivation to invest in a major revision to the plan to address the appearance of new needs and technologies in the past five years. This paper summarizes the various elements of the IT Master Plan.
