This study tested two methods for the evaluation of the infectivity ofCryptosporidium oocysts: a molecular method comprising a cell culture step followed by polymerase chain reaction detection of the infectious oocysts (CC-PCR); and, an immunological method comprising a cell culture step followed by detection of the infectious oocysts by antibody labeling and microscopic observation (MPN-FDM).
