Full Description

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has embarked ona reorganization plan to streamline operations and reduce costs, while maintaining the ability to provide a reliable supply of high quality water. For the Water Quality Section's laboratory staff, this includes streamlining and automating work functions as much as possible. At the same time, activities such as maintaining laboratory certification, performing all necessary compliance monitoring and reporting, and preparing to meet future certification and accreditation requirements must still be carried out. This paper discusses a project to enhance Water Quality's competitiveness in meeting its core business objectives by acquiring and using an improved laboratory information management system (LIMS) that will enable Metropolitan to increase productivity and improve quality control.
