Water reuse was identified as one of the key solutions in the Reno/Sparks/Washoe CountyRegional Wastewater Reclamation Facilities Master Plan in 1996. The main goal of this MasterPlan was to provide a cost-effective phased program of recommended facilities toaccommodate growth in this region of Nevada and to maintain treatment reliability while continuing to meet effluentdischarge requirements. In fall 1997, the agencies began conducting a Regional WastewaterReclamation Facilities Design to develop an approach, including reuse, for the region.This paper will present the process used and alternatives considered for implementing aregional reuse system. For example, one of the regional alternatives involves the constructionof an effluent inter-tie pipeline which would interconnect the two treatment plants together asone system. Includes tables.
