This paper presents an approach to improve the removalof biological dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) in rapid filters by the application of permeable synthetic collectors (PSC). PSC are cylindrical, hollow collectorsof fibrous structure. The distance between fibers and the porosity can be altered by compressing the PSC layer. Includes 6 references, tables, figures.
