Full Description

This paper reports the results of three studies undertaken to determine the variabilities associated with analysts and methods used for the enumeration of Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts. The first study assessed the variability among analysts counting prepared suspensions of Giardia and Cryptosporidium on well slides and hemacytometers. The second study assessed counting method variability (well slides and hemocytometer chamber counts) from batch beaker aliquots containing approximately 100 Giardia cysts and 100 Cryptosporidium oocysts per 10 uL. The third study assessed counting method variability (well slides and chamber counts) from vial aliquots prepared from the batch beakers.
