The EPA regulations for lead and copper contain extensive requirements for public education, for the purpose of helping people reduce their exposure to lead in drinking water. This article explains how the tap water sampling results and requirements for public notification led the Grand Rapids Water System to formulate an approach to public education that also resulted in very effective public relations.
