It is important for professionals in the water industry to have a good understanding of cross connections and the hazards they pose. Failure to implement an active cross connection control program could be tragic. To adequately understand how contaminants enter the potable water system, a basic understanding of the hydraulics of backpressure and backsiphonage is important. This paper explains the basics, with several drawings.
