Programs implemented to see that new watermains are cleaned prior to being put into service and old mains with serious buildup problems be cleaned out can play an important role in helping meet the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requirements. The focus of this paper is to explore how cleaning water mains can improve water quality and help meet some of the SDWA requirements.
