Full Description

Glyphosate is a non-selective, broad-spectrum, post emergent herbicide that is to be regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act. Glyphosate is zwitterionic with pKa values of less than 2.0, 2.6, 5.6, and 10.6 as determined by Sprankle et al. Complexation with natural species is an important topic because of the resultant species may exhibit different treatment characteristics than the unbound contaminant. This paper attempts to test the effectiveness of various treatment processes on glyphosate, and looks into whether the complexation phenomena may be affecting the results.
