This paper discusses how water quality regulations promulgated in the State of Rhode Island by the RI Department of Environmental Management, can and will affect existing safe yields, both surface and groundwater, of Rhode Island's municipal water supply systems. A case study application is described of the Watershed Approach to a specific watershed in the southern portion of Rhode Island.
